Sketch Blog (LATE!)

I have been so lazy about updating my blog lately, blegh. I made these sketches in the beginning of September in lieu of a video blog. Explanation here:

The Troublemaker: So there was this student in one of the 8th grade classes at one of the many schools I visit. He decided it would be OK to read a newspaper in the middle of class. I took it away from him, but he grabbed it right back and proceeded to read it again. I took it away AGAIN and put it where he couldn't grab it. grr. Then he started dropping the F-bomb along with a couple other students. Needless to say I was royally pissed off. Unfortunately, I'm not the teacher in charge and there was only so much I could do. Later the teacher tried to excuse the student's behavior saying he has ADHD and he forgets easily all the bad crap he does. At this point my brain just melted. Le sigh...

You might ask, why do his hands look like a troll's? It was not intentional, but he was a little monster anyway mwahaha

Book Friends: At my favorite junior high, I got to talk with a couple of students during a break and they were telling me all about different Japanese urban legends, Cell-phone novels, etc. The girls called themselves "book friends" and said they wanted to start a reading circle. It was super-cute.

Janken Zombies: A game I played with a 1st grade class, where you basically walk around like zombies and play Janken (Rock, Paper, Scissors). Man, if I could do that every day I totally would.

Seiyuu for a day: Ok, so I wasn't actually a seiyuu (voice actor). But I did get to be the narrator for an informational video on how Lion Dance costumes are made. Super-cool!

The Apple Thieves: Driving along a mountain road, there were a bunch of wild monkeys walking around, eating and grabbing apples from an orchard. It was really cute, but I bet the apple farmers won't be too pleased ;)

HOT: What else can I say? Is that me in a puddle of my own sweat? yes. Did that actually happen? yes. It's hot as balls here and it sucks. I just really want the temperature to go down -_-

1 year and counting...

update!

Apple Pie Adventures

Aomori prefecture is famous for apples. So naturally, they would have lots of apple products, including pie. So my friends and I have decided to explore and try all the apple pies we can find in Hirosaki. Sounds like a good idea to me ;)

I had totally forgotten about this video...it was actually made like a month ago. whoops >_<
Also, the editing is pretty raw...sorry!

The living/dining/like to sit on my butt all day area (just kidding about that last part...mostly.)

My semi-fancy TV...it's so shiny :)

Ze bedroom. Complete with super-grownup-not-for-little-kids Rilakkuma sheets :3

Let's enjoying matsuri: Take 2

The sakura have come and are almost gone, but it was a wonderful, pink-filled couple of weeks.

Here's part two of our festival fun. The only thing I really missed out on was going into the haunted house D: Ah well...til next year!

hana yori dango

The sakura are finally in bloom! yay! and as much as I love those adorable little flowers, what I really had been looking forward to was the sakura festival and all it's wonderful food stands ^_^ Thus I truly believe in the old saying 花より団子 (hana yori dango = "food before flowers")

But seriously, the sakura season is awesome, albeit short. And no matter how many pictures I take, they can't do justice to being in the presence of the real thing. There is just something very satisfying about walking under hundreds of sakura trees in a row. They are romance, beauty, and joy all rolled into one. I can totally understand why Japan is so in love with them.

I apologize for any loud noise in the background of this video. The festival is a busy and happening place ;)

Spring has sprung!..........almost

I hope you are all enjoying your pleasant weather. I am still waiting for mine ^^;

Note: It was brought to my attention that I say "um" and "uhhh" a lot in my videos. I checked and sure enough....wow. I don't think I do it when I'm actually talking with people...I hope....

- Melissa, you're so well-spoken!
-uhhhhh umm uhhhhh......thanks ^_^

Yes, I teach children how to speak proper English. Scary, isn't it?
(OK, but in all seriousness, I do NOT do that with my students, just for the record)

So I made a very conscious effort this time to reduce the number of times i use them so I don't sound like there's something wrong with my brain. There are plenty of other reasons to give you that idea ;D

But if you hadn't noticed, please just forget everything that I just wrote here!
